CISH School Trips

Field Trips

Getting kids outside of the classroom for a real-world experience is an important aspect of our educational philosophy at CISH.  Field trips will be scheduled several times throughout the year for most grade levels or subjects.  Participation in one-day field trips is required, since they are a part of the curriculum.  A small fee may apply in the case of some field trips.

Week Without Walls

Week Without Walls (WWW) trips are also planned each year for Grades 4 to 8.  Participation in WWW trips is voluntary and requires an additional fee, but all students are highly encouraged to take part.  These trips help to build essential skills in students that will last a lifetime.  Students take part in service projects, adventure activities and cultural exchanges, while on the WWW trips. The trips typically last 3-5 days, depending on the grade level of students participating, and locations vary within China.

Sports Competitions, Arts Events and Other Activities

Students who participate in sports teams will be required to travel on overnight trips to other schools across China for competitions.  The cost of sports trips is borne by parents.  Students who participate in visual arts or music events may also need to travel to other cities in China to attend such an event.  Model United Nations (MUN) and participants in other activities will also travel to events on occasion.

Behavior of Students Off-Campus

Students are expected to demonstrate the utmost respectful and responsible behavior while on a school trip.  Students who participate in trips must continually be aware that they are the representatives of CISH and should conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the school.  Behavior that disrupts the function of the trip, impedes upon other’s enjoyment of the trip, goes against the rules of participation, or jeopardizes the safety of participants, will be dealt with seriously. The school reserves the right to take whatever disciplinary action it deems appropriate while on a trip.  Those who demonstrate seriously inappropriate or unsafe behavior will be sent home from the trip at the parents’ expense and/or will be barred from participating in future trips.
