CISH Arrival, Departure and Transportation Information

Arriving at School

All students entering the campus on foot should do so through the gate designated for pedestrians.  Please do not enter on foot through the bus driveway.  Always use caution and watch out for traffic when entering the school grounds. CISH security guards will be stationed in the driveway to keep pedestrians safe as buses arrive.

Parents driving personal vehicles to drop off their children should follow all traffic and parking laws.  Private vehicles are not permitted to use the school driveway for stopping or turning around.  Drivers must refrain from doing U-turns in the middle of the street for student safety and to avoid blocking traffic.

Students taking the school bus should move directly into the school building after being dropped off and should stay out of the roadway.  If any changes need to be made regarding a child's school bus transportation routine, parents should make arrangements with the school office and/or Bus Coordinator prior to the change.

All students in Grades 1-12 are expected to go to the cafeteria to eat breakfast or wait for the start of the school day.  Students will be dismissed from the cafeteria to move to their homeroom or first period classes at 8:00am.

After School

Parents or guardians who pick up their child directly from school should meet their child at the front gate. Teachers or Teaching Assistants will accompany all Early Years and PYP students to their bus or the parent pick-up area at the front gate.  Early Years and PYP students will not be released into the care of unauthorized adults when leaving school.  Bus Nannies will ensure students are on the appropriate bus at the scheduled time.  Students in MYP and DP are permitted to leave campus by themselves at dismissal time.  If taking the school bus home, MYP and DP students are responsible for getting on their bus at the correct time.

At dismissal time, all buses will remain stationary until they are all loaded and the “all clear” is signaled.  All pedestrian traffic must stop while buses exit the campus. CISH security guards will stop anyone from entering the campus while the buses are moving.

When returning home, students from Early Years and PYP who ride the bus must be picked up at their bus stop by a parent or by an authorized individual.  Parents may be asked for identification when picking up their child.  Any EY or PYP student who does not have a parent or authorized person waiting to pick them up at their bus stop, will be returned to school and their parents will be notified.  Students in MYP and DP can walk from the bus stop to home on their own.

Only students who are participating in supervised extra-curricular activities should be on campus past 4:15pm (2:45pm on Wednesdays and 3:15pm on Fridays).  Parents of unsupervised students on campus after 4:15pm will be contacted immediately.  Students whose parents are late in picking their child up will be asked to wait in the main office.  If parents are frequently late in picking up their child the parent will be asked to meet with the school administration.

Students may not travel on a different bus or go home with another student without specific written parent request and school permission.  Students who wish to travel on different buses may do so only if there is seating available.  If students wish to leave the school grounds on foot instead of going home on their bus, they may do so only if they have written parental permission.

Rainy Days

All students are asked to bring a small umbrella in their backpack.  Several teachers or staff volunteers will help to shuttle students to their buses using large umbrellas when possible.
