Birth of the Maple Dragon Ice Hockey Team

On 9 November 2018, The CISH Maple Dragon Ice Hockey Team held their opening ceremonies and first hockey game at the Mix C hockey arena in Hefei.  This game, attended by many, is a milestone event for CISH.  Many teachers, parents, and other members of the public were in attendance. 

All players played terrifically and children from the audience had fun in-between periods shooting a puck at an open net and winning prizes.  This event was the culmination of an outstanding collaboration between CISH and the Mix C hockey rink.  

Many members of CISH were instrumental in making this evening a success including event organizer and CISH Maple Dragon Ice Hockey team coordinator Scott Butler, Head of School Peggy Mitchell and Director of Operations Melody Yang for their support, leadership and guidance, Sean Miller and Lucian Stefanescu for their graphic design support, Kelley Fewer for singing the Canadian National Anthem, Doug Cochrane, Mary Naples, Demi Chou, Sharon Jin, James Chen, Xiao Hu (Tiger) and Shoan Cheung for various contributions.

Building on this initial success, The CISH Maple Dragon Ice Hockey Team is looking toward it’s future including championing the sport at CISH, introducing floor hockey into the After School Programs in January, participating in unique hockey training events and playing with rival teams around China including the CISH sister ice hockey team in Beijing.
