Author Visit

On Friday, March 23rd, Mr. Miller’s grade 10 Language and Literature students were honored to attend a presentation held by our own Award-Winning author Mr. Dejan Crnomarkovic in the CISH library. The presentation covered aspects of the English Literature curriculum and its current unit on poetry. During the presentation, students asked Mr. Dejan Crnomarkovic questions about his passion for telling short stories and writing poetry.  Each student also read poems that they had written and Mr. Dejan Crnomarkovic provided them with useful and insightful feedback.

Mr. Dejan was born in Serbia, in 1961. After graduating from Yugoslav Journalist school, Mr. Dejan worked as journalist, editor in chief and director of several Serbian TV and radio stations. As mentioned, he is an Award-Winning writer and author of poetry. He has published many books on poetry in the Serbian language and one in both the Serbian and Greek language. Presently, Mr. Dejan works at CISH as a teacher assistant. His wife, Mrs. Sladjana is our guidance counselor, and their son Luka, is a grade 9 student.

At CISH, we believe that events like this plays an important role in our students’ academic development. It can have a positive impact on pupils by broadening their knowledge of literature and inspire them in their own writing and reading.
