AKD Business Competition March

A student organised (CAS) Business Case competition at CISH

Last weekend (30 and 31 March) 53 students from across 8 different AKD group schools of which CISH is one, participated in a whole weekend Business Case competition. This was the first AKD wide event and also it was student led. Under the leadership of Morris Ning most Grade 11 students supported by a handful from grade 12 and a few from Grade 10 designed and ran the whole weekend’s activity with a little guidance from Hamish Clifton the Business teacher. Morris (grade 11) said “I feel so pleased that we managed to put this together, it was more work than we ever imagined – but it was worth it!”

It went really well with participants comments such as “It was the best experience of my life” and “attending next year will be a priority”, “awesome competition will definitely join again” and “see yaaaa next year!”

The theme of the business case was around developing and operating a theme park. Students worked from 08.30 Saturday through to 3.30 Sunday presenting their work, posters and analysis. There was a mix of tasks to be accomplished, one involved analysis, another maths and two creative thinking and design. The presentations went really well and included one form CCSC and another from CISH who were joint winners.

This was a CAS DP Project and raised 3,100 Yuan for charity. Maybe next year we will run it again and raise more money for charity!
