Ruben du Plooy

My name is Ruben du Plooy. I am from South Africa. I have been teaching for almost 11 years. During the first five years at a private school in South Africa, I fulfilled the role of teacher and later the Head of Grade 6. For the following five and a half of those years, I have been teaching in China. I have taught English, Social Studies and PE to students from grades 4-10. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, majoring in Psychology and Human Movement Sciences and a Bachelor of Education Honours degree in Educational Psychology. Currently, I am busy with my Master’s degree in Leadership in Education. I like to play rugby, tennis and golf in my spare time.

With my background in psychology and experience as a teacher, I can work with students effectively as I can appreciate what they are dealing with emotionally and intellectually daily. MYP students are going through a diverse range of changes in their lives, and I will be here to provide guidance and support to make their time in MYP not only enriching but also enjoyable. I am very excited to be part of the guidance counsellor team at CISH and look forward to attending to the needs of our students in a holistic manner.
