Although the Visual Arts is a broad term that boldly defies precise definition. It is an expression of form, function, skill, and imagination. It allows us to experiment with, defy or express personal philosophies, social constructs, and opinions through multiple disciplines such as painting, sculpture, design, sketching, printing, design, photography, analysis, drafting and creative problem solving. Ultimately, art is a mechanism used to transform or enhance our view on the world. It has had a known and dominant presence since the dawn of mankind and continues to evolve as we invent novel new ways to express ourselves using new, inventive mediums. Additionally, through the Visual Arts curriculum and instruction, students will be introduced to the historic, mathematical, economic, political, social, cultural, and scientific contributions the Visual Arts have made. It is subject that has inspired and fascinated architects, engineers, investors, scientists, historians, politicians, and philosophers and for that reason, it may also leave a lasting impression on our students as they progress through the Middle Years Program.
