Derek James Berthel
Department Head of Mathematics
Mr. Derek James Berthel is currently the head of the Mathematics Department at the Canadian International School of Hefei. Derek originally hails from Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated from Clark University with a Bachelors of Arts degree.
After obtaining his Bachelor’s degree, Derek moved to Hefei, Anhui China, where he has accumulated over 10 years working experience as a teacher in both advanced Mathematics and Biological science courses. Notably, Derek has taught AP Biology and AP Calculus for the Hefei No. 8 International High School program for well over 5 years.
Derek is currently proud to serve the Canadian International School of Hefei as an IB qualified instructor of advanced mathematics for the Diploma Programme.
